Background

Serialization

By serializing RTIs, organizations can track each item throughout the supply chain, enhancing visibility and accountability

Serialization

Serialization means marking all Returnable Transport Items (RTIs) with a unique ID and is a critical process in supply chain management. This process forms the cornerstone of data capturing solutions, crucial for the quality and speed of data integration into other systems with the Stack&Track platform. By serializing RTIs, organizations can track the whereabouts of each item throughout the supply chain, and link information such as Order ID’s and product information, enhancing visibility and accountability.

Serialization in Multi-Pooler environments

In environments where multi- poolers or a multitude of asset types are involved, serialization becomes particularly significant. It ensures that each item, regardless of its origin or type, is uniquely identified, allowing for efficient management across diverse logistical operations. The challenge here often lies in integrating new serialization solutions with existing systems. To address this, Stack&Track employs versatile technologies such as vision-based AI, which can adapt to both existing and new serialization standards, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.

New serialization concepts

Stack&Track is actively developing new serialization concepts, continuously monitoring and testing these innovations. While the deployment of these new concepts is typically linked to the release of new RTIs, there is a continuous development of existing new concepts. For instance, our data capturing hardware works with data matrix/QR codes and has been upgraded to support new GRAI (matrix) types, paving the way for enhanced product traceability capabilities in the near future.

RFID

Our scanning equipment can easily be extended to make RFID reading possible.

In closed-loop pools, where RTIs are continually recycled within a controlled system, RFID-based serialization concepts have proven highly effective. These systems utilize RFID technology to automatically identify and track RTIs throughout the cycle, reducing manual scanning requirements and enhancing the speed of operations.

Internet of Things (IoT)

IoT (Internet of Things) trackers are specifically implemented to monitor product conditions in transit, such as temperature. Additionally, the IoT tracker serves as a method for serialization of re-usable packaging. Condition monitoring and product traceability offer significant advantages in the supply chain.

Data Capturing Solutions

The specific RTIs used by customers, along with their form and level of serialization, dictate the type of data capture solutions that can be implemented. Stack&Track ensures that each solution is customized to meet the unique needs of our users, maximizing efficiency and accuracy in tracking and managing RTIs.

By leveraging advanced serialization techniques and technologies, Stack&Track not only optimizes supply chain operations but also sets the stage for future advancements in product traceability and asset management. This proactive approach to serialization supports a more connected, transparent, and efficient supply chain ecosystem.

Frequently Asked Questions

In a multi-pooler environment, serialization enables seamless coordination between different poolers by standardizing identification across all stakeholders. Each RTI is uniquely serialized, allowing interoperability and traceability across shared supply chains. This ensures data consistency and reduces errors, even in complex, multi-pooler setups.

Serialization relies on advanced technologies to enhance tracking and data accuracy. AI-powered vision technology enables precise identification and scanning of barcodes, GRAI codes, and patterns. RFID facilitates non-contact, real-time tracking of RTIs, which is particularly effective for high-speed operations. Cloud-based platforms centralize and synchronize data, providing real-time visibility and actionable insights. Additionally, IoT sensors monitor conditions such as temperature and humidity during transit, ensuring comprehensive tracking and control across the supply chain.

Serialization enables precise tracking of product conditions by linking unique identifiers with IoT (Internet of Things) sensors that monitor variables such as temperature, humidity, and shock. This data is stored alongside the serialized code, providing a comprehensive record of product conditions throughout the supply chain. This is particularly beneficial for industries where maintaining specific conditions is critical.
